Alexis Santos brings a fresh perspective to the modern mindfulness world, offering a style of teaching that reshapes how we relate to the mind. Rather than relying on rigid or overly formal meditation models, he presents an approach that is intuitive, practical, and well suited to the complexities of contemporary life.
After graduating from Harvard University in 1995, he spent several years in medical school before choosing a very different path. Seeking deeper insight, he left medicine to travel and turn inward, a journey that led him to India and later Burma (Myanmar), where he studied with his main teacher, the respected meditation master Sayadaw U Tejaniya.
From 2003 to 2005, Alexis ordained as a Buddhist monk, training in a lineage that emphasizes wisdom and the mind’s attitude over fixed physical forms. After returning to lay life, he completed four years of intensive teacher training at the Insight Meditation Society (IMS) and Spirit Rock, guided by Jack Kornfield and Joseph Goldstein. He has been teaching internationally since 2012.
