Founder of Tatra Escapes and fortunate to call the Tatra Mountains home, Alena grew up in Poprad, at the very base of the peaks. Some of her fondest memories come from time spent on the trails with her parents, walking through the mountains, breathing in the crisp air, and feeling deeply at ease in nature.
As she got older, she found herself wondering why Slovakia was not on more travel lists. That question inspired her to create Tatra Escapes as a way to share the beauty of her homeland with others and offer a travel experience that feels welcoming, thoughtful, and authentic. She understands how overwhelming it can be to visit a country for the first time, which is why her team takes care of the details so guests can simply enjoy the journey.
Even as the team continues to grow, personal attention remains central to everything they do. Alena works closely with local families, guides, and businesses she knows and trusts — the kind of people she would recommend to her own friends.
