Raised in rural Oklahoma, A.J. Eversole grew up far from city life in an environment that encouraged imagination and creativity. She spent much of her childhood inventing elaborate games of make-believe, a foundation that continues to shape her storytelling today. Now based in Fort Worth, Texas, with her husband and children, she writes for readers of all ages and brings a wide-ranging literary voice to her work.
As an enrolled citizen of the Cherokee Nation, A.J. is deeply committed to uplifting Native and Indigenous voices. That passion also informs her role as a Native Voices Reporter for Cynthia Leitich Smith’s Cynsations Kidslit News Site, where she helps spotlight stories and creators from Native communities.
