Odyssey

Odyssey was founded by Gabe Charalambides, a Stanford-trained aerospace engineer passionate about mental health. Psychedelics played a pivotal role in Gabe’s journey to manage his anxiety and lead a fuller life.

Gabe’s search for his first psychedelic therapy experience inspired the creation of Odyssey. He knew that there was nothing more important than finding an environment where he could feel safe and comfortable. With an engineering and research background, he sought a balanced environment—one that embraced the therapeutic potential of psychedelics without compromising scientific credibility, which proved surprisingly difficult to find.

Over the next five years, Gabe worked with some of the leading psychedelic retreat centers and organizations, including MAPS and Synthesis. He saw firsthand how beautiful and transformative these experiences could be. He was frustrated to see that to the general public, psychedelics were often associated with astrology, tarot cards, and other New Age practices and beliefs—associations that alienated many who might otherwise benefit.

Gabe envisioned an alternative: a space that honored the transformative and mysterious nature of psychedelics while remaining firmly rooted in science and evidence-based practices. He dreamed of creating an organization that helped offer this to the world.

When Oregon’s groundbreaking legislation took effect in 2023, Gabe saw an opportunity to turn this vision into reality. Odyssey opened its doors in September 2023, launching the first legal psilocybin retreat in U.S. history.

Today, Odyssey continues to provide a safe, supportive, and scientifically grounded environment where individuals can explore the healing potential of psychedelics.
