Since 2019, you have been able to join a 200-hour teacher training course in Europe and study yoga as it was originally taught in India. Centre Lothlorien offers this TTC according to the standards of “The Yoga Institute” in Mumbai, India — the oldest organized yoga center in the world. By the end of the course, you will understand not only how the exercises are practiced, but also why and when they are used. The emphasis is on ancient knowledge and on learning how to bring yoga into daily life in a way that supports balance and happiness.
This course is designed not only for future teachers, but also for anyone who wants to deepen their understanding of yoga or is looking for personal growth.
It is suitable for both beginners and experienced yoga practitioners and teachers. No previous yoga experience is required to take part in this TTC. The training is enriching for everyone because it does not focus only on asana, but also explores the foundational background of traditional Indian yoga philosophy. Before learning how to guide others, you first apply the ancient knowledge of yoga to your own life.
Centre Lothlorien is affiliated with “The Yoga Institute” in Mumbai, India, the oldest organized yoga center in the world. The Institute was founded by Shri Yogendra, who learned yoga from a sadhu. Sadhus are the original practitioners of yoga. They dedicate their lives to enlightenment, living in solitude and keeping their knowledge to themselves. Shri Yogendra was the first yogi to start a family and make yoga knowledge public. For more than 100 years, the Yogendra family has shared this knowledge, and Centre Lothlorien is the first to offer their study program in Europe. A team of teachers, all trained at “The Yoga Institute” and led by Pinky More from Mumbai, will come to Centre Lothlorien in France to teach you the essence of yoga.
For one month, you will live alongside the Centre Lothlorien team and teachers. You will experience a natural daily rhythm and discover which foods best support your health. Yoga is presented as a practical guide for meeting life’s situations with greater clarity and steadiness. Everything taught in the course can be reflected in your own life. By integrating these experiences, you can move beyond obstacles you may not even have recognized and step into a happier life.
The course combines theoretical and practical aspects of yoga. On the practical side, you will study all major asanas with background knowledge, including how, why, when, and when not to use them. You will also learn pranayama, techniques that lead into meditation, and kriyas. Special attention is given to unique techniques and concepts developed by the founders of The Yoga Institute.
The theoretical part includes an introduction to the origins of yoga and yoga texts such as the Hatha Yoga Pradipika. You will explore the psychology and philosophy of yoga in greater depth. With support from Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras and other teachings, you will look consciously at your own patterns of thought and learn how to live in a simpler, healthier, and happier way. The course also includes anatomy and physiology classes, along with modern topics such as stress management.
