Description

Whether you choose a kayak, paddleboard, boat, or plane, whale watching in Alaska offers a truly unforgettable experience.

In Kachemak Bay, four whale species may be spotted: Orca, Humpback, Fin, and Minke.

We can never predict exactly when a whale will appear, but when we know they’re in the area, we make every effort to head out by boat and enjoy a quiet moment with them.

So keep watch for that spout!

No trip to Alaska feels complete without time spent taking in the remarkable sea life of protected Kachemak Bay, whose nutrient-rich waters support a vibrant marine ecosystem. From whales to wild salmon and halibut, this bay is full of life.

Home to the National Estuarine Research Reserve, Kachemak Bay is known for its exceptional biological activity. Its circulation patterns help keep nutrients and bait fish in the bay, along with predators such as whales, throughout the year.

Our captains and guides are committed to educating guests about these magnificent mammals while supporting sustainable whale watching practices and protecting the marine environment.
