Insight Vipassana silent meditation retreat offers a rare chance to turn inward, reconnect with your true self, and nurture inner peace, mindful thought, and conscious action.
Rooted in an ancient meditation method, the practice is beautifully simple in theory and deeply transformative in experience.
For several days, you will live in silence in a peaceful natural setting in the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, surrounded by clean air and the calm of the landscape. This is also an invitation to step away from screens and constant input, creating a true digital detox while you settle into a healthy daily rhythm aligned with nature and the sun’s cycles.
Your body will be supported with nourishing, plant-based meals prepared with care, using organic vegetables and herbs grown in the walled gardens of Hardwick Estate. With fewer distractions and more quiet time, you can slow down, listen more deeply, and reflect on your life with clarity.
The retreat program includes sitting mindfulness meditation and dynamic walking meditation. Silence is maintained for 5 full days, and many participants are surprised by how restorative it feels not to speak. Optional personal interviews with a teacher are available for questions about the practice. Daily Hatha yoga asana helps support the body, release tension, and ease the mental and emotional work of the retreat.
Held in the spirit of a conscious community and guided by experienced facilitators, this retreat creates space for focused practice, deep learning, insight, and clear seeing. Guests may choose between two exclusive arrival and departure dates for this uncommon opportunity to practice in the rolling natural beauty of the Thames Valley.
The retreat follows a simple schedule, guided by the bell rather than the clock. Participants are asked to follow the full timetable and join all meditations and talks, supporting continuity of practice in a structure inspired by Buddhist monastery life.
There is also time for rest, laundry, and reflection during scheduled breaks. A personal interview with a teacher is available for support with meditation practice.
