Insight Vipassana silent meditation retreats offer a rare chance to reconnect with your true self while nurturing inner peace, mindful thought, and conscious action.
Rooted in an ancient meditation method, the practice is beautifully simple in principle and deeply transformative in experience.
Spend several days in silence in a peaceful natural setting with clean, fresh air in the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Step away from your phone and the constant stream of information for a true digital detox. Follow a healthy daily rhythm and a diet aligned with nature and the sun’s cycles.
Enjoy nourishing, plant-based meals prepared with care, featuring many vegetables and herbs grown organically in the walled gardens of Hardwick Estate. With fewer distractions and more time for reflection, you can slow down, listen inwardly, and create space to observe your life more clearly.
The retreat program includes sitting mindfulness meditation and dynamic walking meditation. Silence is maintained for five full days, and many participants are surprised by how restorative it feels not to speak. Optional personal interviews with a teacher are available for questions about the practice. Daily Hatha yoga asana supports the body through the emotional and mental work of the retreat, helping release tension and physical blocks.
This is a time for solitude, guided by a conscious community and experienced facilitators, with space for deep practice, learning, insight, and clear seeing.
Two exclusive arrival and departure dates are available for this rare opportunity to experience this transformative practice in the rolling nature of the Thames Valley.
The retreat follows a simple schedule, so there is no need to watch the clock; the bell will signal where you need to be throughout the day.
Participants are asked to follow the schedule fully and attend all meditations and talks. Designed for continuity of practice, the program reflects life in a Buddhist monastery. There will also be time for rest, laundry, and reflection during the scheduled breaks, as well as a personal interview with a teacher for practice-related questions.

Vipassana is offered on a donation basis rather than for private financial gain, reflecting the spirit of pure intention and selfless service. This approach allows organisers and participants alike to engage with the teaching in a generous and meaningful way.
As participants, you are invited to experience the retreat without consumerist expectations. Once the basic costs are covered, the exchange is complete, and any additional donation is entirely at your discretion. At the end of the retreat, you will have the opportunity to offer whatever donation you feel moved to give.
