The Essentials – Advanced Buoyancy Control is designed to take the configuration and buoyancy skills from your basic recreational scuba training and build them further. Working closely with your instructor, you will reconfigure your diving kit for a streamlined, efficient profile in the water. Through both practical and mental rehearsal, you will develop greater confidence in the skills needed for technical diving courses and advanced recreational programs. The course places strong emphasis on proper trim, body positioning, and efficient kicking techniques. It is open to both recreational and technical divers.
Prerequisites: Advanced Open Water
As you begin a technical diving program, you will quickly notice a few key differences. In general, there is more equipment involved. Since technical diving often focuses on going deeper or staying longer, it requires more gas and, in many cases, decompression gas. Another important principle is self-sufficiency. This does not mean diving solo, but rather being prepared with the necessary backup equipment and gases to complete the dive safely if you become separated from the rest of your team.
Learning what this equipment is and how to carry it in a streamlined, efficient way is essential. Several basic programs are available to support your transition and make future training easier and more enjoyable.
