This retreat offers an inviting introduction to the Six Element practice, with time devoted to exploring the Dhatu-Vibhanga sutta, where the Buddha presents this teaching to his disciple Pukkusati. Participants will be guided through a thoughtful approach that combines study and direct experience, creating space to deepen understanding of this classic Buddhist practice.
Alongside the textual study, the retreat also opens into the mystery of the elements themselves. In the Tibetan tradition, these are known as the Maha Bhutas, or “Great Ghosts” and “Great Magical Transformations,” adding a rich contemplative dimension to the experience. Practice will unfold both in sitting meditation and within the spacious setting of Dhanakosa, allowing the natural environment to support reflection, presence, and insight.
