Time: Plan 3 hours to allow enough time to relax, meditate, and let your body integrate the experience.
Date: Contact us for the next detox date.
Your cleanse includes two substances: Sapo and NuNu. You may choose one or both. The immediate effects last between 15 to 30 minutes for Sapo and 5 to 10 minutes for NuNu, while the benefits continue beyond the session.
Sapo, also known as Kambo, is traditionally used to help clear toxins from the lymphatic system, cardiovascular system, and glands, while also supporting immune strength. The name Sapo comes from the Matsé tribe of Peru, who use it to describe the secretion of the phyllomedusa bicolor frog, as well as the frog itself.
Unlike the commercialized Kambo commonly harvested in Brazil through unsustainable methods, the Peruvian Sapo we administer is significantly more potent than diluted mass-market versions. Its quality is shaped by the frog’s diet, environment, and the number of extractions it undergoes.
Our Sapo comes from wild frogs living in a rich natural habitat. The Matsé collect them by canoe at night during or after rainfall, when the frogs sing. The frogs are brought back carefully, kept in a cage to rest overnight, and handled with respect throughout the process.
In the morning, the Sapo is tied gently with blades of grass, without harming the animal. The frog is lightly stimulated to release its sweat, which is left to dry on wood before being liquified for administration. After a few hours, the frog is released back into the wild so it can rebuild its defense system.
Each frog is extracted only once in its lifetime, in contrast to mass-market Kambo, where frogs are often kept captive for repeated extraction. This single-extraction approach reflects the respectful partnership the Matsé maintain with Sapo.
We source Sapo in collaboration with the native people of the Peruvian tributary where it was first discovered by Westerners. The late journalist Peter Gorman documented the first use of Sapo, NuNu, and Ayahuasca at this exact location. Today, we continue to work with the same people, including Jairo, the Ayahuasquero of Inti Wasi and son of Julio, the well-known Peruvian Ayahuasquero who first introduced Ayahuasca to the West.
NuNu is a snuff made according to the Matsé recipe, using inner cacao bark and tobacco. It is traditionally used to clear the sinuses, respiratory system, and eyes. By comparison, the mass-commercialized version sold as Rapé often contains much higher levels of tobacco, may not include cacao bark, and is prepared from mixed ingredients.
The quality of Rapé is unknown, and its effects are often novel and uncertain. As with Sapo, NuNu was introduced to the West through Peter Gorman, and we continue to work with the same people to prepare the NuNu we administer.
For more information, you are invited to read Peter Gorman’s book Sapo in My Soul: The Matsés Frog Medicine, available on Amazon.
Your $75 registration fee includes either one or both of Sapo and NuNu. These are administered on the beautiful, lush grounds of Inti Wasi, located on Mount Maderal, where the land is composed of quartz with powerful energetic conductivity.
