Pregnancy is a profound and beautiful chapter in a woman’s life, marked by constant change on physical, emotional, biological, and mental levels. It is a time of transformation, and with the right support, it can also become a deeply empowering journey.
Many people assume yoga during pregnancy is difficult or unsafe, but this is not the case. Pregnancy yoga helps prepare both body and mind for the changes ahead, supporting a calmer, stronger response to physical and mental stress. By turning awareness inward, it also deepens the connection with the baby and helps prepare for the new responsibility ahead.
Through yoga asanas, meditation, pranayama, and related practices, this training supports the well-being of both mother and child. Pregnancy yoga is divided into two parts:
Prenatal Yoga — yoga practiced during pregnancy.
Postnatal Yoga — yoga practiced after the baby is born.
In the Vedic view, pregnancy is a spiritual journey. A pregnant woman is seen as divine during these nine months, nurturing new life within her and becoming the creator of a new life.
Rishikesh Vinyasa Yoga School, a registered yoga school in Rishikesh, offers a 6-day Prenatal Yoga TTC and a 6-day Postnatal Yoga TTC. The training goes beyond yoga postures, meditation, and pranayama, and also explores essential questions such as whether the asanas are suitable for mother and baby, whether both are healthy in body and mind, whether the mother is free from unnecessary stress and tension, whether she feels ready for the baby, and whether she is carrying any emotional burden.
Prenatal Yoga focuses on the needs of pregnant women during this special time. According to Hindu mythology and the Vedas, a child begins learning while still in the womb. For this reason, a pregnant woman needs a supportive environment and excellent care, along with physical and mental fitness throughout pregnancy. Daily yoga practice can help build strength, and the asanas taught in this course are designed to support a normal delivery.
Postnatal Yoga begins after the baby has arrived. At this stage, new physical and emotional needs arise, and the mother must remain strong and healthy to care for her child well. This 6-day course is designed to help restore physical strength and mental peace while supporting the mother’s overall recovery.
