A Maloca is a traditional Amazonian structure, circular in shape with a cone-shaped roof, created for gatherings and rituals. According to local beliefs, it is a place where the tribe’s energy unites and where communication between the Cosmos and the Earth, the Father and Mother, takes place. Local tribes still come together in Maloca to share knowledge, discuss important tribal matters, and hold sacred ceremonies dedicated to the spirits of nature.
The Maloca at Cordillera Escalera was built on the highest terrace, in a carefully selected location chosen with the participation of Amazonian shamans. From here, there is a magnificent view of the Shilkayo River valley, and the energy of the surrounding mountains gathers at its heart. The best local masters were involved in its construction.
The main circular hall, with a decorative floor made of local Shivahuaco wood and walls of Quinilla and Cedar, offers excellent acoustics that play a vital role during ceremonies. Large windows covered with mosquito netting provide superb ventilation and allow guests to fully experience the surrounding nature.
The two-tiered conical roof, traditionally covered with palm leaves, rises to 10 meters in height. It is this space beneath the dome that allows the sacred Icaros songs to create the energetic layer needed within the Maloca.
With a main hall diameter of 8.5 m, the space is comfortable for rituals with groups of up to 10 people. Maloca also includes 2 full bathrooms with washbasins, toilets, and showers. The entrance is designed as a large terrace with a fascinating view of the surrounding mountains.
