This evidence-based 5-day performing arts retreat offers children, youth, and their families a meaningful opportunity for growth, connection, and transformation. Developed and facilitated by counselor and Developmental Psychology MA Denise Goldbeck, the experience uses the performing arts as a powerful pathway for development.
Over five memorable days, participants of all ages come together to create and perform a musical production. Through the process, children and youth build stronger communication skills, deepen respect for themselves and others, and gain confidence in expressing who they are. They also learn to navigate challenges and heal from difficult experiences, making the journey both joyful and deeply impactful.
Parents or guardians attend the opening session on the first evening and return for the performance on the final evening. The program concludes with lunch the following day. Outside of session times, parents or guardians are responsible for caring for their children.
Older children attend evening sessions, while younger children generally do not. Children stay at The Haven with a parent or guardian.
The group builds a child-led culture through games and the creative process of making the show. Casting is done with each child’s growth in mind, placing them in roles that can support their development most effectively. Youth leaders are there to guide and encourage the performers, helping them strengthen both self-confidence and social skills. And, of course, everyone has fun along the way.
In an optional complementary session, caregivers have the chance to explore:
Registration is completed through the All-Stages Education Foundation website.
Room and meal reservations are arranged separately.
Meal package for participants 10 years and under for 5 days is $300, including 2 snacks per day.
Meal package for participants 11 years and up and adults for 5 days is $400, including 2 snacks per day.
Children and youth under 15 years of age stay with a parent or guardian, and room charges for a 5-night stay range from $725 to $1900 depending on room type and the number of people in the room.
Youth aged 13 and older can continue their developmental journey by becoming a youth intern and attending the LAUNCH Youth Leadership Training alongside a KITS session.
At KITS, children are given a safe space to learn about themselves and others while being accepted exactly as they are. Youth interns emerge as poised, confident young adults. I believe this program helps shape a world of self-aware, compassionate, inclusive, and responsible people who can meet future challenges with strength, courage, and wisdom. Naomi, parent
This program was truly transformational for my daughter. The awareness she gained about how she shows up for herself and others was incredibly powerful. She left with a kind of joy that is often difficult for her to access, and that feeling now serves as a reference point for what is possible. I would recommend this program to everyone. Kate, parent
I hope this will be the first of many experiences for my grandchildren. The older students showed how powerful the program is in teaching kindness and consideration. I would highly recommend it. Alison, grandparent
