Kambô draws on the secretion of the Giant Monkey Tree Frog, Phyllomedusa bicolor, a traditional medicine honored by Indigenous communities across the Amazon for centuries. Applied to the skin, this powerful secretion supports deep detoxification and is believed to encourage healing on physical, emotional, and spiritual levels. Often referred to in Portuguese as vacina da floresta, or “the vaccine of the forest,” Kambô is regarded as a holistic practice that nourishes body, mind, and spirit while opening the way to renewal and clarity.
At CAIM, we approach this ancient tradition with care and respect, offering ceremonies where your safety and well-being remain the highest priority. These ceremonies are designed to help release dense energies and emotional blockages that may be connected to past trauma. With experienced guidance and a supportive setting, KambĂ´ can help restore balance and vitality, while inviting a deeper sense of well-being and spiritual clarity.
Kambô’s unique peptides work in harmony with the body, acting as a catalyst for releasing deeply rooted toxins, stagnant energy, and trapped emotions. This cleansing medicine supports the healing of body, mind, and spirit. A powerful physical detox may occur alongside energetic clearing, including the release of heavy energy known as panema.
As the body becomes cleansed, many people experience greater clarity, increased energy, and an enhanced sense of well-being. This can support a stronger capacity to meet life’s challenges and may help cultivate more joy and balance in daily life.
Kambô may provide support for a range of conditions, including chronic pain, addiction, PTSD, anxiety and depression, Lyme’s disease, autoimmune conditions, chronic fatigue, fungal, viral and bacterial infections, migraines, certain types of cancer, HIV, skin and eye conditions, arthritis, diabetes, eating disorders, Crohn’s and IBS, insomnia, herpes, and hepatitis.
Our Kambo ceremonies usually last around 4 hours in total. This includes introductions, opening the space, a discussion of intention-setting and expectations, and the closing of the ceremony. The Kambo treatment itself lasts between 20 and 40 minutes. Afterward, there is ample time for rest and recovery, and the ceremony ends with nourishing snacks and refreshments to support the body’s recalibration. You will be fully grounded and able to drive afterward.
Originating in the Amazon rainforest, Kambô has been used for centuries by Indigenous tribes such as the Katukina, Yawanawá, and Matsés. Traditionally, the Matsés used it to prepare for hunting, as a medicine for physical illness, and for clearing negative energy. It is considered a sacred medicine that helps connect people with nature and their inner selves. Those who feel called to work with this medicine often arrive with intentions ranging from getting out of a rut to seeking mental, physical, and spiritual support.
We source our Kambo from the Matsés, who hold deep reverence for the frog and its habitat. By supporting the Matsés, we also contribute indirectly to the preservation of the Amazon rainforest.
During a Kambo ceremony, small superficial burns, known as gates, are made on the skin so the secretion can be absorbed quickly into the body. Within seconds, many people feel a warm, tingling sensation spreading through the body. It is also common for the heart to beat more strongly and for a heightened sense of energy to arise.
As Kambo moves through the body, it initiates a deep cleansing and healing process. This often includes intense physical purging, which may involve nausea, vomiting, and sometimes diarrhoea. These responses are part of the body’s detoxification process and are driven by Kambo’s powerful bioactive peptides. The purging helps release physical and energetic toxins, making space for clarity and rejuvenation after the ceremony.
The ceremony concludes with a period of rest and recovery, allowing the body to recalibrate and integrate the healing effects of KambĂ´.
