Description

With nearly 1,300 retreat participants since 2018, Inwardbound is recognised as one of the world leaders in psilocybin retreat experiences.

This 5-day group retreat is designed to be intimate, supportive, and deeply process-oriented. Across the programme, you will take part in 2 psilocybin ceremonies, alongside a carefully curated mix of practices intended to support healing, insight, and meaningful positive change in your life.

What the retreat programme includes:

  • Preparation Sessions: Enter the retreat with guidance from psychotherapists and experienced facilitators. These sessions cover intention setting, safety, and self-care, and include a 1:1 consultation with a psychotherapist to support your readiness.
  • 2 Psilocybin Ceremonies: Experience psilocybin in a safe, ceremonial environment with experienced facilitation. These journeys are designed to support inner exploration, personal insight, and healing.
  • Integration Sessions: Make sense of your experience through guided integration work and a 1:1 consultation with the psychotherapist, helping you bring insights into everyday life.
  • Yoga & Meditation: Daily yoga, meditation, and gentle movement practices help reconnect body, mind, and spirit while encouraging strength, flexibility, and calm.
  • Breathwork: Breathwork sessions are included to help release stored tension, shift stagnant energy, and restore a sense of balance and vitality.
  • Time in nature and to relax: Enjoy walks in the national park woodlands around the retreat center, with time to unwind in the sauna or by the fire pit in the evening.
  • Community Support: Share the journey with open-minded people interested in alternative approaches to healing, while building connection, support, and encouragement.

Daily Schedule:

Day 1: Meet at a central location in Amsterdam at 14.00 for private transfer to the retreat center. On arrival, the evening includes preparation, an optional nature walk or sauna, dinner, an opening circle, and an early night.

Day 2 & Day 3: Begin with morning yoga, meditation, or breathwork, followed by breakfast. There is time for a walk in nature, then an opening circle and preparation. In the afternoon, the psilocybin ceremony takes place. The evening includes reflection with the psychotherapist and facilitator, dinner, and integration practices such as art therapy, time in nature, or relaxing by the fire.

Day 4: Start with yoga, meditation, or breathwork, followed by breakfast. The day is devoted to integration with the psychotherapist and facilitator, including 1:1 support. After a connection lunch, there is an optional nature walk or sauna. In the evening, enjoy a cacao ceremony, body movement, and a group dinner, with optional sauna time and fire pit relaxation.

Day 5: A final morning bodywork programme of yoga, meditation, or breathwork is followed by breakfast. The retreat closes with a circle and mandala creation. Departure is at 12.30pm, with drop-off in central Amsterdam or at the airport.

To apply, please email to arrange an exploration call. If the retreat feels like the right fit, you can complete the full screening form and deposit. A consultation with a psychotherapist will then be scheduled to confirm suitability.

The retreat is held 45 minutes north of Amsterdam in an authentic 19th-century Dutch abbey. Each participant has a private room, and the spacious common areas provide room to rest, journal, and settle in. The peaceful setting offers excellent opportunities for reflection and nature walks, and the chapel is available for private meditation and contemplation.

Why InwardBound?

InwardBound’s interdisciplinary team of psychotherapists, PhD scientists, and holistic therapists brings together science and spirituality within a safe and supportive container. Working in the broad tradition of Dr. Stan Grof, the team aims to help participants access the wisdom of their own inner healer.

The organisation also draws on a long tradition of psilocybin use in Ireland, continuing a land-based ancestral approach that connects healing, nature, and spiritual growth in a contemporary ceremonial setting.

Financial assistance is available to help make this form of healing more accessible across socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds. If you feel you may be a candidate, you can submit a 500-word application.

Facilitators

Dr. Darragh Stewart Phd is the co-founder of Inwardbound. In his early twenties, a period of personal crisis following the death of his grandmother, the end of a long-term relationship, and the pressure of university studies led to depression, anxiety, and a search for inner healing and a new way of being.

Renée Hendriks is a trauma-informed psychedelic practitioner, therapeutic voicework facilitator, ceremonial vocalist, sound healing practitioner, and medicine music musician. Her first Ayahuasca ceremony in 2015 marked a turning point, leading to a deep connection with plant medicine and extensive experience in ceremonial and therapeutic psychedelic spaces.

Rob Ó Cobhthaigh (Psychotherapist) is the co-founder of Inwardbound. He holds a Graduate Diploma in Counselling and Integrative Psychotherapy from Dublin City University, is an accredited psychotherapist, and is a professional member of MIND, the European Foundation for Psychedelic Science, and the Institute of Psychedelic Therapy (UK).

About Rob I often say this work comes from necessity rather than theory. It is rooted in lived experience, not something I simply studied in a book or followed because it became fashionable. My path has been one of healing, and psilocybin has been a vital part of that journey since my first psychedelic experience in the foothills of the Dublin...
