Introduction to Shamanism

Shamanism is one of the oldest mind-body healing traditions known today, with roots reaching back at least 40,000 years. It has been practiced across all five continents, including among the Celtic and Pictish peoples of ancient Britain.

Using these ancient methods, participants will be introduced to shamanic journeying, a powerful visionary practice used to access other realms and connect with personal spirit helpers and teachers. The workshop will also explore how shamanic journeying can help restore spiritual power and health, and how it can be applied in daily life for oneself, for others, for communities, and for the land and its inhabitants.

With the shamanic journey at its heart, this experiential weekend workshop offers an introduction to the basic principles of cross-cultural core shamanism, including:

• an introduction to shamanism and shamanic drumming
• finding and working with your personal spirit helpers and teachers
• an introduction to shamanic healing
• shamanic divination as a way to deepen your connection with nature and the elements
• teachings of the medicine wheel
• participation in a community healing
