Description

Feel at home in nature with a school dedicated to bushcraft, wilderness survival, and primitive skills in Southern Portugal’s Baixo Alentejo, one of Europe’s most remote regions. Teaching has been underway since 2016, with inspiration drawn from Native American traditions and a curriculum refined over the years into a focused, practical approach to life outdoors. The aim is not only short-term survival, but a deeper understanding of the natural world and the confidence to keep moving further into the wild.

The philosophy here is rooted in connection rather than conflict. Nature is not treated as something to fight against, but as a living environment to observe, understand, and rejoin through tracking, awareness, and close attention to the landscape. Courses are intentionally small and personal, with a maximum of ten participants, so each person can gain the fullest possible experience. Training is generally held in English, with Portuguese or German available for individual or small-group courses.

Upcoming courses

  • July 4th - July 5th, 2026: Survival Weekend
  • July 17th - July 19th, 2026: Lakeside Wilderness Survival Booked out!
  • September 26th - 27th, 2026: Deep Nature Connection
  • October 24th - 25th, 2026: Survival Weekend
  • November 21st - 22nd, 2026: Outdoor Cooking & Earth Steward
  • December 5th - 8th, 2026: Essential Wilderness Survival

In addition to the scheduled dates, extra courses can be arranged for groups or for private training. The learning experience includes wilderness survival, practical outdoor skills, off-grid living, primitive camping, hands-on bushcraft, wilderness awareness, tuning into natural instinct, deep nature connection, and ancestral traditions.

Who the courses are for

These trainings are suitable for people seeking a digital detox, anyone wanting to reconnect with nature, bushcraft enthusiasts, and families. No previous experience is required. Whether you are completely new to the outdoors or already comfortable in wild environments, the courses are designed to help you move with confidence, awareness, and respect.

Environmentally friendly

Travelers coming from abroad can support the forestation project by sponsoring trees at €1 per tree to help offset journey emissions. Parts of the land are still being reforested, and every tree contributes to restoring the local ecosystem and supporting long-term carbon capture.

Frequently asked questions

  • A detailed equipment list is provided after booking; basic outdoor clothing and personal gear are usually enough, and tents, sleeping mats, and knives can be rented separately.
  • The courses are beginner-friendly and structured to build skills and confidence step by step.

A private 1-on-1 lesson with Tom is also described as a memorable experience, combining core and advanced skills with a deeper appreciation of nature and thoughtful conversations about our place within it.
