Harvest Festival

A celebration of gratitude

As the seasons turn, there is a natural invitation to pause and give thanks. This gathering honors the abundance of the harvest and the rains that have made it possible, with offerings of gratitude to the Weather Spirits for their blessings across the land.

You are warmly invited to take part in this joyful celebration, held within the Nahua tradition of weatherwork and healing. As an initiated Granicera in this tradition, Vickie is honored to guide a ceremony of deep appreciation for the region and community.

Blue Deer Center

Set in the Catskill Mountains of New York on ninety three acres of land and forest, Blue Deer Center rests beside Saskawhihiwine, the river of peace. For millennia, this land has been known as a place where conflict is resolved and illness gives way to health. Here, sacred blessings unfold in ways that cannot happen even a short distance away, offering a unique medicine that restores and heals.

Traditional offerings from each participant will include flowers, bread, and fruit. You are also welcome to bring a personal offering that reflects the abundance, beauty, and joy of the harvest and of life itself.

After the altar is prepared and the offerings are placed, we will share a meal together on the porch while the spirits enjoy their feast. Following the meal, we will return to the altar to close the ceremony.

Please bring your own food for yourself and your immediate family members attending, in picnic style.

As we will be outdoors under the Fire Tent, please dress for the weather. Women are asked to wear skirts or dresses, and men long pants.

Registration is required. There is no admission cost to attend, and free will donations to Blue Deer Center will be gratefully accepted.
