The Details:
Your boat will drop you at the beach trailhead, where the journey begins. Hike three miles inland, first climbing a saddle ridge and then gradually descending into the glacier valley. While your guide prepares the kayaks, take a moment to rest and take in the views—then head out for a couple of hours of paddling among the icebergs.
After kayaking, enjoy a picnic lunch and a bonfire on the beach before hiking the three miles back to the trailhead, or choose an alternate return route for extra mileage and even more varied scenery. For fast hikers with plenty of time, a side trail leads to a hand tram that crosses the glacier river.
The first section of the trail is the most challenging, but it includes only about 450 feet of elevation gain and follows gentle, well-maintained switchbacks, so it rarely feels steep. Expect some rocks and tree roots along the way, and watch your footing. Moderately experienced hikers in decent shape will do well, and active kids who are used to hiking especially love this adventure!
Set among the trees with peaceful ocean views, this newly renovated cabin-style suite invites guests to slow down and settle in. A scenic walk along the trail leads to a spacious one-bedroom retreat designed for longer workcation stays, with plenty of room to relax, unwind, and spread out in comfort.
The bedroom can be arranged with either 1 king bed or 2 twin beds, while the separate sitting room offers a leather sofa, table, and stocked mini-bar for added convenience. A detached heated bathroom with a shower adds comfort and privacy to the experience. Ideal for up to 2 guests, this suite blends a cozy natural setting with thoughtful amenities for a restful and restorative stay.
Step into a stay that blends heritage charm with a peaceful, tucked-away setting. This remodeled historic hideaway is one of the last remaining structures on the property built by original homesteader Jack Jacob “Rusty” Lein, offering a rare sense of place and character. Surrounded by trees, this intimate cabin-style accommodation is ideal for 1–2 adults, with space for an optional child as well.
Inside, you’ll find a comfortable queen bed, a small sleeper sofa, a convenient kitchenette, and a private ensuite bathroom with shower. Partial ocean and cove views add to the atmosphere, giving your stay a quiet connection to the landscape beyond. With its junior suite style layout and cozy proportions, this cabin is well suited for guests looking for a restful retreat with historic charm and modern comfort.
Set at the highest point of the property, this exclusive VIP suite cabin offers sweeping 360° views of Halibut Cove and a truly elevated stay. Once the owner’s cherished art studio, the space has been transformed into a spacious retreat that feels both private and memorable, with far more room than the other suites on site.
Inside, guests can enjoy east- and west-facing panoramic sitting areas, along with a private hot tub and sauna for moments of relaxation. The suite also includes a wet bar, espresso setup, writing desk, and a generous ensuite bathroom with an open shower. An attached side room with its own separate entrance and additional ensuite bathroom provides extra flexibility for larger groups.
The main room features 1 king bed, while the side room includes 1 queen bed and 1 loft-style standard full bed, accommodating up to 3 additional guests.
Once the owner’s art studio, this exclusive VIP suite cabin occupies the highest point on the property and offers sweeping 360° views of Halibut Cove, Kachemak Bay, and the Kenai Mountains. A private helipad also serves as a remarkable seating area, perfect for photographing sunrise over the peaks or taking in the vivid evening alpenglow. At low tide, black bears and bald eagles are often seen foraging along the beach just a few hundred yards across Rosie's Bight.
On the opposite side of the cabin, the deck features a private hot tub, a custom standalone sauna, and a dedicated spot for sunset viewing. Larger than the other suites, this cabin includes east- and west-facing panoramic sitting areas flanking a king bed, along with a wet bar, espresso machine, writing desk, and a spacious ensuite bathroom with an open shower.
