Plant Spirit Medicine can reach people in a deeply meaningful way. As the plants restore balance and support healing, they also awaken an ancient memory: a time when human beings lived in connection with all life, and relationship with the natural world was central to existence. In that remembering, we begin to reconnect with purpose, inner belonging, and the deeper reason we are here.
Many people arrive here through Eliot Cowan’s book, the Growing Awareness of Nature online course, or another inner calling. Something has stirred, and with that stirring often comes the desire to share what has been received with others.
What is Level 2?
The next Plant Spirit Medicine training begins in June 2026. After completing the required Growing Awareness of Nature online course, the next step is Level 2.
Moving from Level 1 to Level 2
Level 1 opened the door to the natural world as alive and relational. It introduced the foundational principles of Plant Spirit Medicine and the ways body, mind, and spirit shape our lives.

That online training offered an introduction to Plant Spirit Medicine. Level 2 goes further into the application of this healing modality and broadens the way you see the world.
Level 2: Deepening Our Connection with Plants and Spirit
This immersive, in-person training expands both understanding and practice. Over two weeks, with one week in June and a second week in September, you will deepen your relationship with the plants through direct experience while learning how the Five Phases appear in the world and within each of us. The training also supports you in recognizing what people truly need in order to restore balance and live in harmony.

Online study offers a strong foundation, but nothing compares to the depth that comes through direct, in-person experience. As we build relationship with the plants, we also strengthen our connection with life itself and the forces that shape health and well-being. Shared learning opens access to wisdom beyond books and theory—something felt and embodied.

Level 2 takes place at Blue Deer Center, a sacred place in nature and the home of Plant Spirit Medicine. Set among the peaceful mountains of Upstate New York, this land holds a quiet power that invites stillness, wonder, healing, transformation, and awe.
Among whispering trees and the steady flow of a tranquil river, the dream held in so many hearts becomes tangible: to embrace the sacred and awaken to the aliveness and presence of all beings.

Founded by Eliot Cowan, Blue Deer Center is a nonprofit dedicated to preserving and sharing this wisdom. People from around the world come here to renew purpose, belonging, and connection to the sacred within all beings.
Becoming a Healer
By the end of Level 2, you will know how to learn directly from the plants and understand the core principles of Plant Spirit Medicine. Whether you continue on to Level 3 to train as a healer or feel complete at this stage, Level 2 offers a transformative experience in its own right.
If you are called to continue, Level 3 introduces the hands-on practices of healing, including pulse taking, treatment approaches, and more.
