Jairo Llerena Valles, Peruvian Ayahuasquero
Jairo learned how to prepare the medicine and facilitate ayahuasca ceremonies from his father, Don Julio Llerena Pinedo. Don Julio was widely recognized around the world and became the first indigenous person to bring this work and medicine to Westerners in the 1960s through journalist Peter Gorman.
He is deeply experienced in working with Western guests. Over more than 40 years, his father supported both Westerners and local communities, teaching Jairo how to prepare ayahuasca and support healing through Icaros, the energetic medicine songs.
Inti Wasi co-founders Pol and Teri have worked with Jairo since 2012. Both have personally experienced, and witnessed, remarkable life changes through Jairo’s heart-centered work.
