Step away for a weekend of calm, comfort, and reconnection in Bonsall, where sweeping views, fresh air, and a slower pace create the ideal setting to rest and recharge. This countryside escape is designed to help you unwind fully, with a choice of experiences ranging from pure relaxation to bespoke therapies and nature-led activities. You can keep things simple with seasonal ingredients or opt for fully prepared catering, while every detail is thoughtfully handled for you.
Your private weekend hideaway is a spacious open-plan 17th-century barn, converted in the 1960s from a former artist’s studio. Expect long hot baths, the warmth of a wood-burning stove, nourishing food, and a massage arriving just when you need it. With activities arranged in advance, your only task is to relax and enjoy the experience.
The barn features a generous living and dining area, an adjacent kitchen and bathroom, a mezzanine bedroom, and a meditation area. Thick stone walls create a cosy, sheltered atmosphere, while outside you’ll have private access to a terrace and dining space with BBQ, plus a large secluded garden anchored by an ancient ash tree.
Designed for mindful living, the space invites you to slow down. Its historic character and rustic charm have been carefully preserved, creating a feeling of stepping back into the 1960s. Although a projector is available, there are no screens in the Studio Barn, allowing you to fully settle into the quiet presence of blackbirds, wood pigeons, owls, and the crisp hillside air.
Your starter package includes two main activities for the weekend: one relaxation experience and one nature connection activity, chosen according to your preferences and seasonal availability.
An example itinerary might include a guided foraging walk through nearby fields and woods with master forager and certified medical herbalist Anna, followed by a restorative treatment from your personal masseuse or reflexologist in the afternoon.
Additional packages and activities are also available, and a call can be arranged to help design your ideal weekend.
On request, you can add thoughtful extras to make the experience even more memorable, including a secret picnic hamper, photography, additional therapies, or transportation from local stations and further afield, subject to availability.
A seasonal menu has been created especially for you by a master forager and sustainable chef, using inventive plant-based ingredients sourced from local organic producers. You may choose a personalised food hamper, a recipe box with everything needed for selected dishes, or fully prepared meals ready to heat and enjoy. A drinks hamper featuring local vineyards, brewers, and distilleries is also available.
Bonsall is a welcoming village in the heart of the Peaks, surrounded by green hills, wildlife, and walking routes including the Limestone Way. Nearby, you’ll find Cromford, Matlock Bath, Wirksworth, and Matlock, along with Chatsworth House just a 30-minute drive away.
