3-night minimum stay (available for 3 to 7 nights, year-round).
Welcome to a thoughtfully restored historic home in the heart of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania’s capital city. Set along the banks of the Susquehanna River, this handcrafted retreat blends old-world character with a peaceful riverside setting, where stained glass windows, wooden floors, fireplaces, and arched entryways create a warm and elegant atmosphere. From the property, guests can enjoy beautiful sunsets and sweeping views that make every stay feel memorable.
Built in 1925 by D. Bailey Brandt and recognized in Building Harrisburg, The Architects and Builders by Ken Frew, the house reflects Spanish-inspired architecture popular in its era. Over the decades, it has evolved from a divided two-home residence in the 1940s to a group home in the 1980s and 1990s. Today, owners Chris and Erica have restored it to a single-family dwelling, bringing back the original flow designed for gathering and entertaining. A major renovation completed in spring 2010 introduced modern comfort while preserving the home’s 1920s charm.
Guest safety and comfort remain a priority. Rooms are deeply cleaned before arrival, with all surfaces sanitized and linens freshly prepared. During your stay, no one will enter your room, and essential items are delivered outside your door each morning. Breakfast is served with care in a way that supports a more relaxed, low-contact experience.
The continental breakfast includes homemade muffins, fresh fruit, yogurt, and other delicious options, with a mini-fridge in each room for added convenience. Dietary needs can be accommodated with advance notice. Guests may enjoy breakfast throughout the house, at the dining table, at bistro tables, or outdoors with a full view of the Susquehanna River. A coffee station is available around the clock, along with hot drinks and sweet treats.
Included with the stay is a 2-day guest pass to the YMCA, located just one block away, offering access to cardio equipment, weights, studio classes, an indoor pool, Jacuzzi, and sauna, all with views of the riverfront.
Each of the four guest rooms features a king-sized Westin Heavenly bed, 400-thread-count 100% Egyptian cotton sheets, and four soft hypo-allergenic pillows. Rooms also include a 40-inch LCD flat-screen TV, wireless internet, alarm clock, room-darkening window treatments, docking station for iPhone and iPod, hairdryer, closet, full-length mirror, and iron with ironing board.
Nearby activities include restaurants, bars, cafés, Capitol tours, Susquehanna River walks, river boating, Broad Street Market, and Strawberry Square. The retreat is also close to historic Midtown Harrisburg, where guests can explore local dining, arts, and culture, as well as enjoy easy day trips to nearby cities.
Within walking distance, highlights include Broad Street Market, founded in 1860 and known as the oldest continuously operated market house in the country; Midtown Scholar Bookstore, an award-winning independent bookseller; and Midtown Cinema, Harrisburg’s independent art house theater. The innkeeper and staff are happy to share additional recommendations once you arrive.
