Created in partnership with Takata Experience, this week offers access to one of the most biodiverse reef systems in the world, only minutes from shore. Expect diverse reef systems, coral gardens, sea fans, reef fish, turtles, rays, and striking underwater topography, along with morning yoga, restful evenings, healthy meals, and fresh ocean air.

Two Paths, One Retreat

Path One — Learn to Dive

PADI Open Water Certification Track

Ideal for complete beginners, travelers who have always wanted to scuba dive, adventurous families, and snorkelers ready to go deeper.

You will complete your PADI e-learning before arrival, then spend three days with Takata instructors learning diving fundamentals, equipment handling, buoyancy, safety procedures, and open water skills. By the end of the retreat, you will earn your internationally recognized PADI Open Water Certification.

Includes confined water training, four certification dives, personalized instruction, small group support, and digital certification.

Path Two — Certified Diver Track

Designed for Open Water certified divers, advanced divers, divers returning after time away, and experienced underwater explorers.

Certified divers will spend the first three days exploring the reef system around Mahahual with guided dives tailored to certification level and experience. Dive possibilities may include coral gardens, reef walls, swim-throughs and canyons, shallow biodiversity-focused dives, and deeper topography dives for advanced divers. Optional afternoon dives may be available for an additional fee.

Path One: Beginner’s Open Water Certification

Monday: Takata 9:00–2:30 (Quick review at 9 AM, confined session, packed lunch, one open water dive, debrief)

Tuesday: Takata 9:00–2:30 (Morning exercises, packed lunch, afternoon dive, debrief)

Wednesday: Takata 9:00–5:30 (Morning exercises, packed lunch, two open water dives)

Path Two: Certified Divers

Monday: Takata 9:00–1:00 (Two top reef dives to assess buoyancy, air consumption, and equipment handling)

Tuesday & Wednesday: Takata 9:00–1:00 (Advanced dives based on certification level and preferences)

Wellness & Restoration

Unlike traditional dive trips that focus only on time in the water, this retreat is intentionally designed to support restoration and nervous system regulation between dives. Morning and afternoon wellness sessions may include gentle yoga, breathwork, stretching and mobility, cold plunge, tea bath, and sound bath.

Your retreat includes one treatment, with additional options available à la carte throughout the week. Treatments include massage, reiki, biofrequency therapy, chakra healing therapy, and private tea bath.

The Mesoamerican Barrier Reef

Mahahual sits along the second-largest barrier reef system in the world. One of the remarkable things about diving here is how accessible it is: training reefs are just minutes away, walls and deeper topography are nearby, diverse reef systems are reached by short boat rides, and biodiversity is exceptional. Weather permitting, the group will also visit Banco Chinchorro, one of the most treasured diving spots on the Mesoamerican Reef.
