Join a week of movement, magick, and manifestation woven through aerial arts and witchcraft. This immersive retreat invites aerial practitioners to follow the crooked path and explore what it means to live as a modern aerial witch.
Designed for those who feel drawn to the wind, earth, and sea, the experience blends daily study, embodied practice, and ritual. Mornings are dedicated to the foundations of modern witchcraft and the development of your own personal practice. In the afternoons, you will train aerial sequences on hoop and hammock, with each class shaped around the theme and intention of the day and adapted for different bodies and a range of skill levels. Evenings bring everything together through sacred space, ritual, and magickal workings that integrate your aerial practice.
The retreat is grounded in the healing power of movement and dance, with a focus on how intention can deepen your physical practice. Participants will leave with a clearer understanding of the core practices of modern witchcraft and inspiration to continue growing in their own power as the wheel turns.
Taking place as the year shifts from summer and fall into its darkest season, the retreat also explores ancestral traditions and the belief, shared by many cultures, that the dead grow closer to the living at this time of year. You will learn about the intersections and history of Samhain, Día de los Muertos, and American Halloween, honoring both old ways and contemporary expressions.
Halloween offers the option to attend a local multicultural celebration in the evening. For Día de los Muertos, a local Mexican community member will guide the building of a collective traditional ancestor ofrenda, along with traditional foods associated with the season. You may also choose Catrina-style makeup before heading out to a local event. On the final night, Samhain is honored with a magickal working for those who came before us.
Día de los Muertos is an ancestral celebration held on November 1 and 2 that predates the Spanish Conquest. It is a time to remember loved ones who have passed and to honor the journey of life and death. Rather than seeing death as an ending, this tradition invites us to recognize it as part of a larger path toward peace. Brightly colored skeletons, skulls, marigolds, food, music, and ofrendas fill markets, cemeteries, and homes during the holiday.
Samhain, pronounced Sow-un or Saa-wn, is the first cross-quarter day on the Pagan wheel of the year and the midpoint between Mabon and Yule. It marks the beginning of the Pagan calendar and is considered a time when the veil between the living and the dead is thinnest. Traditionally, it is a moment for ancestor connection and for Shadow Work, especially as the season turns inward and reflective.
Outside the structured program, there will be time to enjoy nourishing meals, swim in the pool, soak in the hot tub or warm ocean, read in hammocks, and breathe in the tropical air. Guests can also explore local markets, beaches, and nightlife.
Participants should have at least one year of consistent weekly aerial practice and be familiar with aerial hoop and/or hammock/sling. Advanced practitioners are welcome. Beginner aerialists may also be accepted if they already have a physical practice that translates well to aerial arts.

Casa Chango is an eco retreat center committed to living in harmony with the natural world. The property is off-grid and powered entirely by solar energy. It uses dry composting toilets, and humanure and food waste are turned into soil to nourish the plants and trees on-site. Guests are asked to arrive with a mindset of respect for nature and to bring natural shampoo, conditioner, and toothpaste. The buildings are designed to stay cool and comfortable.
The property is animal-friendly and includes friendly dogs and cats in shared areas. Native insects also live in this part of Mexico. While rooms are fumigated regularly, the open-air gym, dining area, pool, and lounge do not have walls, so guests may encounter insects, birds, and lizards during their stay.
This retreat includes energy work, guided meditation, altered-state exploration, and Shadow Work. Every effort will be made to maintain a safe environment, but some practices and themes may bring up difficult memories or uncomfortable emotions. The intention is healing and growth, yet these experiences may be destabilizing for people carrying trauma or significant mental illness.
