A dense and generous dance medicine training, this teacher training unfolds over a full week devoted to both practice and the teaching of the prerequisites needed to lead dance medicine workshops. Through 15 hours of exchange and theory, 30 hours of embodied practice, and 5 hours of hands-on application, you will train to open spaces for free dance and healing movement.
We will draw on the 5 elements and the 5 rhythms found within a dance medicine wave to learn how to facilitate. Along the way, you will explore a variety of tools designed to support you during your workshops, and we will also look at the different arts of successful guidance.
A dance medicine training, several paths of learning:
- Theory — Transmission of knowledge to help you better understand how a dance medicine wave is structured, how to hold space, how to guide and support dancers, and how to build a musical wave.
- Dance waves — An exploration of your own dance, so you can fully immerse yourself in dance medicine, experience its healing power, and understand its strength through the body.
- A movement map — Discovery of danced tools connected to a theme. You will dance them, guided by Julie’s voice and the music, and then we will break them down so you can make them your own.
- Practice sessions — Opportunities throughout the week to apply what you learn: holding space, guiding a dance, creating an altar, being an angel, and leading a collective dance wave at the end of the week.
- Integration time — Space to absorb everything you have learned, with afternoon rest periods. You will also have the option to go for a walk or enjoy the geodesic dome sauna on site.
