Komovi, often called the “Emperor of Mountains,” is among Montenegro’s most striking peaks. Its three dramatic summits — Kučki, Ljevorečki, and Vasojevićki kom — together with sweeping views of the surrounding ranges, make it a classic destination for mountain lovers and annual hiking plans alike.

Expect scenic trails, untouched nature, and an atmosphere that appeals to both travelers and adventurers. The journey also includes traditional stays in eco katuns, warm local hospitality, and the chance to enjoy authentic Montenegrin cuisine in a relaxed setting.

To complete the experience, the program ends with a horse riding adventure on beautiful Bjelasica Mountain, accompanied by calm, gentle, and highly skilled horses.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at the airport (Podgorica or Tivat) or port (Kotor/Bar/Tivat) – transfer to the katun in Štavna – dinner – overnight in eco katun Štavna.

Day 2: Circle tour around Komovi

This circular route around Komovi is a must for anyone who loves this mountain, as well as for those discovering it for the first time. Poets called it the “emperor among mountains,” and the trail lives up to that name. It is suitable for those prepared for long walks.

The ascent leads through dense forest and past Crni izvori, a particularly beautiful section with impressive views of the vertical cliffs of two Komovi peaks. Much of the route passes through wild, open landscapes with views toward the border mountains and the rugged Mojanska River valley. Toward the end, the trail becomes easier as it continues through a beech forest with several springs before returning to Štavna after a full day outdoors.

Day 3: Vasojevićki kom hiking tour – overnight in katun Štavna.

The ascent begins from Štavna. Reaching the summit takes about 2:30 to 3 hours, depending on the group’s size and condition. The top is rocky, spacious, and safe, marked by a concrete pyramid. From there, you can enjoy panoramic views and capture unforgettable photos.

On this route from Komovi to Bjelasica, you will discover a mountain unlike any other. Expect wide views across rolling pastures and dense forests. Thanks to Bjelasica’s gentle character, its highlights are easy to reach, without long or demanding climbs. With its soft meadows and thick woodland, it stands in complete contrast to Montenegro’s karst mountains and is ideal for hikers of all ages.

Day 5: Horse riding on Bjelasica Mountain

Breakfast.

This round trip covers approx. 15 km, starting from the cottage and continuing to the source of the Biogradska River. After a break, the ride goes on to Pešića Lake, where you will pause for photos above the lake before returning via Troglava and Zekova glava, peaks above 2,000 m. A relaxing approx. 3-hour horse riding tour through remarkable natural landscapes.

Return to the accommodation. Lunch. Free time. Dinner.

Day 6: Free time. Transfer to the airport (Podgorica or Tivat) or port (Kotor/Bar/Tivat)
