Set in some of Montenegro’s most spectacular landscapes, this action-packed holiday is designed for families with older children and groups of friends who prefer adventure to lounging by the pool. Across one unforgettable week, you’ll experience a varied mix of canyoning, kayaking, mountain biking, rafting and hiking, with each day bringing a different challenge and a new setting — from the slopes of Rumija Mountain to Lake Skadar, Lukavica Mountain, Tara Canyon and Durmitor National Park.
Expect a physically active trip, but with the flexibility to adjust the difficulty of the activities to suit your group’s abilities. The journey is led by Milija, one of Montenegro’s most experienced adventurers, who speaks fluent English and Montenegrin/Serbian.
The recommended minimum age is 14, although exceptions can be made for exceptional children. If you think your children may be suitable, please check with us.

Day 1 – Arrival
Arrive in Lake Skadar National Park and enjoy an introduction to Montenegrin cuisine that evening at Tanja’s home. Homemade food and drinks, traditional hospitality and a rural setting make this a memorable welcome. Overnight in Virpazar.
Day 2 – Kayaking
Explore one of six kayaking routes on Lake Skadar, starting from Virpazar. The most popular route includes Grmožur, the former island prison, freshwater beaches, and the Morača delta with rope swings, picnic spots and an optional monastery visit. A packed lunch is included, and no previous paddling experience is needed. Overnight in Virpazar.
Day 3 – Canyoning
Discover Međureč Canyon, one of Montenegro’s hidden natural treasures, located beneath Rumija Mountain. The 2.5-kilometre canyon route takes around four hours and includes walking, climbing, rope work and jumps into clear water. Afterward, visit the Old Town of Bar and sample local grilled dishes and traditional sweets. Overnight in Virpazar, with a free evening.
Day 4 – Free Day and Transfer to Lukavica
After two active days, transfer to the wilderness of Lukavica. You can enjoy a scenic hike or simply relax in one of Montenegro’s most remote and beautiful settings while staying at the unique Moj San Rondavel. Breakfast and dinner are included. Overnight in Lukavica.
Day 5 – Mountain biking*
Ride through the remote mountain pastures of the Lukavica plateau, where silence and open landscapes create a true escape. Use e-bikes if available, or regular mountain bikes, as you loop around Borovnik Mountain and pass below the twin peaks of Žurimovi. If the group is up for more, the route can be extended to the katun villages and Kapetanovo Lake. Later, transfer to Camp Grab near the Bosnian border for the rafting adventure ahead.
Day 6 – White-water rafting
Take on the Tara Canyon, the deepest canyon in Europe and the second deepest in the world after the Grand Canyon. Its UNESCO World Natural Heritage status reflects its beauty, clear water and untouched nature. Depending on the season, the rapids range from grade 3 to 5. Tour duration is 2–3 hours. Groups of fewer than 6 may join another rafting group. Overnight at Camp Grab with a group dinner.
Day 7 – Hiking in Durmitor National Park
Finish with a hike to Prutaš, the 9th highest peak in the range at 2,394m. The route offers exceptional views and leads to one of the most striking peaks in Durmitor, known for its colourful vertical layers. On the return journey through the Piva Plateau, stop at a medieval stećci necropolis and admire the views over Piva Lake before celebrating the end of the trip in Plužine. Overnight in Plužine.
Day 8 – Return to Podgorica
*In spring, mountain biking takes place near the Tara River instead.
