Rebreather diving opens the door to a different kind of underwater experience, delivering highly efficient, “no bubbles” exploration for both recreational and technical divers. By recycling the gas you exhale, a rebreather uses only a fraction of the gas required in conventional open circuit diving, making it an exceptionally efficient tool for extended diving performance.
Our rebreather training programs are designed to help you build knowledge and practical skills in a safe, progressive, and closely supervised environment under the guidance of your rebreather instructor. As you advance, you will deepen your understanding of rebreather diving, learn how to prepare and maintain your unit, and develop the ability to plan and conduct dives with confidence.
From entry-level training through expedition-level development, these programs represent the cutting edge of rebreather education.
This program introduces divers to the theory and hands-on skills needed to dive safely with a closed circuit rebreather in the Advanced Nitrox/Advanced Recreational Trimix depth range. Training includes stripping down, preparing, and checking the unit, along with pre-dive safety procedures before every dive. Skills are then developed from confined water into open water using a closed circuit rebreather.
Successful completion qualifies divers to use a closed circuit rebreather safely to a maximum depth of 48 msw (160 fsw) when using helium diluent, or 42 msw (140 fsw) when using air diluent, with a maximum of 15 minutes of decompression.
Prerequisites: Must be an IANTD Advanced EANx Diver or Advanced Recreational Trimix Diver, or equivalent; minimum age 18.
Equipment Requirements: IANTD CCR-specific Diver Student Kit; own or have unlimited access to an approved closed circuit rebreather.
The IANTD Normoxic Trimix CCR Diver program is the next stage in closed circuit training and covers decompression diving in the extended range using a normoxic trimix diluent.
Building on the procedures learned in the IANTD CCR Diver program, this course expands your skills and knowledge so you can extend your closed circuit diving safely. A major focus is placed on bailout equipment and the procedures required for diving in the extended range while using closed circuit equipment.
This program qualifies divers to conduct closed circuit trimix dives to a maximum depth of 60 msw (200 fsw).
Prerequisites: Must be an IANTD CCR Diver or equivalent; 20 dives and 25 hours on the rebreather being used; minimum age 18. Divers certified as OC Normoxic Trimix may take this course combined with the Rebreather Diver course, with qualification awarded once 20 dives and 25 hours are logged.
Equipment Requirements: IANTD Normoxic Trimix Diver Student Kit for CCR; own or have unlimited access to an approved rebreather.
The IANTD Trimix Closed Circuit Rebreather Diver program is designed for experienced divers who want to use a closed circuit rebreather across the full trimix depth range. The course focuses strongly on bailout requirements and the planning needed to dive safely in this environment.
Graduates are qualified to perform closed circuit trimix dives to a maximum depth of 100 msw (333 fsw).
Prerequisites: IANTD Normoxic Trimix CCR Diver or equivalent; 50 hours on the rebreather being trained; minimum age 18.
Equipment Requirements: IANTD Trimix Diver Student Kit for CCR; own or have unlimited access to an approved rebreather.
The IANTD CCR Cave Diver program follows the IANTD Full Cave Diver program, adapted specifically for qualified CCR divers. It trains divers in the procedures and techniques needed to plan and execute safe cave dives using a Closed Circuit Rebreather.
The program covers all training necessary to plan and conduct dives in the cave diving environment with closed circuit equipment. Strong emphasis is placed on equipment configuration, buoyancy control, and propulsion techniques to support safe and efficient cave diving.
Line following, line laying, and reel use are covered extensively, along with safety drills such as CCR failure management, light failure, and lost line procedures. Team diving procedures and communication are also a major part of the course.
Prerequisites: Must be a qualified IANTD CCR Diver or equivalent; 20 dives and 35 hours on the rebreather being used; minimum age 18.
Equipment Requirements: IANTD Cave Diver Student Kit; IANTD Normoxic Trimix Diver Student Kit for CCR; own or have unlimited access to an approved rebreather; must fulfill general equipment requirements for cave diver programs.
