On the way to Arenal Volcano, the route includes a stop in the well-known town of Sarchí, celebrated as the birthplace of Costa Rica’s artisans. Here, you may even catch a glimpse of the world’s largest ox cart, crafted from cedar wood and painted in vivid colors, including a striking orange. Its traditional design is highly detailed, stands two stories tall, and took 70 days to complete.
The journey then continues through a variety of plantations and agricultural landscapes, passing pineapple farms, mango groves, ornamental plant nurseries, and cattle ranches before reaching the small town of La Fortuna. There, you will stop for lunch at a charming restaurant with spectacular views of Arenal Volcano.
This excursion combines the impressive presence of the volcano with the relaxing thermal waters of Ecotermales Hot Springs. Surrounded by lush vegetation and unforgettable scenery, it offers a truly memorable experience.
Ecotermales includes six pools with temperatures between 37° and 41°C (99° to 106°F), along with a natural water pool, a waterfall, and two regular water pools, all set within an exotic natural spa. You can also enjoy trails that wind through the forest.
To end the day, dinner will be served with a beautiful view of the volcano before the return trip, offering one last chance to admire its iconic silhouette. Dinner is served in the restaurant with a farm-to-table menu style. Return to San José is scheduled for around 7:00 p.m.
