RETREAT DETAILS Metta-Vipassana is an integrated practice that brings together the Four Foundations of Mindfulness (Vipassana) and Metta practices (Brahmavihāras). Vipassana meditation, or insight practice, invites us to connect the fullness of our shared human experience with the immediacy of present-moment awareness. As body and mind begin to settle, intuitive wisdom naturally arises. From this place, we can open more fully to each moment, both within ourselves and in the world around us. With this growing openness, we become more able and willing to meet life’s joys and sorrows with steadiness and presence.
Metta practice, or kind-friendliness, awakens and strengthens the heart’s most beautiful spiritual qualities: kindness, care, joy, and equanimity. Bringing mindfulness to these qualities helps them mature and flourish. In this way, our life energy is directed toward awakening our fullest potential, while also creating a stable basis for contentment, purpose, and meaning.
During this silent retreat, participants will be guided in deepening their path to liberation within an atmosphere of kind awareness. The program includes meditation instruction, Dharma teachings, and small group discussions to help process whatever arises in practice.
TESTIMONIALS
“My retreat experience with Dave has been one of the most profound and constructive things I’ve done in my life. Having practiced mindfulness for less than a year before attending my first retreat with Dave, I found the teachings easy to understand yet deeply challenging, with plenty of room for growth. Since then, I’ve attended four retreats of different lengths and can’t wait to attend more.”

“I have been studying Buddhism for nearly 50 years, and I highly recommend any opportunity to study with Dave. The seven-day retreat I joined with Dave this summer was stellar. He brings an authentic, loving, and humble steadiness to his teaching. He is especially skilled at weaving in emotional intelligence. I discovered a deeper access to self-kindness that continues to inform my daily practice.”
Lauren R, Santa Fe, NM
“I have attended several retreats with Dave as the guiding teacher. I find his teaching style highly accessible: he is clear and direct, and he makes it easy to see how the Buddha’s teachings remain relevant to modern life. He is also approachable and makes himself available to students in a way I find unique among the Dharma teachers I have worked with. As a student, I have always felt seen and supported by Dave’s presence in the room.”
