At Ayaterra, this retreat brings together Ayahuasca and San Pedro in a carefully planned sequence that allows each medicine to be experienced with intention, rest, and integration. The two traditions can complement one another, but the program is designed to honor the right order and provide enough space between ceremonies for reflection and recovery.
Over five days, the retreat begins with Ayahuasca ceremonies on the first two evenings, followed by a full day of rest and integration on Day 3. Day 4 includes the final Ayahuasca ceremony, and the retreat concludes on Day 5 with a daytime San Pedro ceremony, after which transportation is provided back to Cusco. Ayahuasca ceremonies take place indoors in a quiet and protected setting at night, while San Pedro, also known as Wachuma, is held during the day and may include time outdoors and gentle walks in nature.
We see San Pedro as a meaningful way to close the retreat after working with Ayahuasca. After the inward, reflective quality of the Ayahuasca ceremonies, San Pedro offers a different experience—one that encourages presence, openness, and connection with the natural world.
In the Andean tradition, San Pedro is linked with Pachamama, or Mother Earth, and the life force that flows through nature. The experience can support a return to inner strength and a deeper sense of belonging, reminding us that we are part of a greater natural balance shared by all living beings.
