This 200-hour yoga teacher training is more than a certificate. It is the point where practice becomes understanding, and understanding becomes the ability to guide others safely and clearly. Instead of simply learning how to move through poses, you begin to see how and why a sequence works, and how to support another person in that process. This training in Palolem, Goa is designed to help you make that transition from dedicated practitioner to confident teacher.
Set on the peaceful shores of Palolem, along Goa’s quieter southern coastline, the program blends classical yogic philosophy with practical, modern teaching skills. Over nearly four weeks, you will be fully immersed in daily practice, anatomy, alignment, teaching methodology, and reflective study, giving you the space to deepen your own experience before teaching others.
This is a [Yoga Alliance / certifying body name] registered 200-hour program, and the certification is recognized internationally. Upon completion, you qualify to register as an RYT 200 teacher and teach yoga professionally in many parts of the world.
The curriculum offers the complete foundation a new teacher truly needs, rather than a shortened overview that leaves important gaps once you begin teaching.
You will explore asana in detail, with a strong focus on alignment, modifications, and adapting poses for different bodies and levels of ability. Anatomy and physiology are a core part of the training, helping you understand how the body moves and where common injuries occur, so you can teach with real awareness and safety. Pranayama and breathwork are studied both as personal practices and as teaching tools, alongside meditation techniques that you will learn to guide for others, not only experience yourself.
Yogic philosophy is covered in depth, including foundational texts that many trainings only touch on briefly. This gives you a real sense of the tradition you are entering, not just the postures connected to it. A major part of the course is devoted to teaching methodology, class sequencing, voice and presence, hands-on adjustments, and how to work with groups that include mixed abilities. By the final week, you will have taught real classes, received feedback, and refined your approach so you can step into your first paid class with confidence.
Days begin early with Mysore-style or guided asana practice, when the body and mind are still fresh. Breakfast follows, and later in the morning you move into philosophy or anatomy lectures, best received with a clear and rested mind.
Afternoons are dedicated to teaching methodology workshops, practice teaching sessions, and smaller group work where you receive direct feedback on cueing, sequencing, and adjustments. Evenings often include a second practice, sometimes Yin yoga or restorative work, along with time for reflection, journaling, or simply resting before the next day.
The schedule is intensive by design. Becoming a teacher within a few weeks requires steady immersion, but the pace is structured to prevent burnout, with proper rest built naturally into the rhythm.
Some students join this 200-hour yoga teacher training with the clear intention of teaching professionally, whether to build a career or eventually open a studio of their own. Others come to deepen a personal practice that has moved beyond weekly drop-in classes, even if they do not plan to teach right away. Both are equally welcome, and both leave with the same internationally recognized certification.
You do not need years of advanced practice to apply. What matters most is consistency and sincere interest; a regular practice of six months to a year is usually enough preparation, along with the willingness to begin again in a new way, as a student of teaching rather than only of asana.
The training also attracts practitioners from other fields, including fitness instructors, physiotherapists, and wellness professionals, who want a more structured understanding of yoga to support the work they already do.
Goa has long been known as a respected destination for yoga teacher training, and Palolem offers a quieter, more focused setting than the busier training centers farther north. With fewer distractions, a slower daily pace, and a practice space close to the beach, the natural surroundings become part of the experience rather than just a scenic backdrop.
Small group sizes matter here as well. The training is intentionally limited so each student receives individual feedback on teaching rather than generic comments lost in a large group. By the end of the program, your teachers will know your strengths and the areas where you still need to grow, because they will have watched you teach repeatedly over several weeks.
The 200-hour yoga teacher training includes all course materials, daily practice sessions, lectures, and supervised teaching practice throughout the full program. You will also receive a course manual with anatomy, philosophy, and sequencing reference material that remains useful long after the training ends.
Accommodation can be arranged on request for the full duration of the course, and options in Palolem can be recommended to suit different budgets. On successful completion, you will receive your 200-hour certification, recognized for international registration as a yoga teacher.
This 200-hour yoga TTC runs in limited batches throughout the year, with especially strong demand during Goa’s peak season from October through March. If you have been thinking about teacher training for some time, this is your moment to move from consideration to preparation.
