Ynés Sánchez comes from a family with a deep healing lineage. Her father and grandfathers were powerful healers, and her son is also connected to the medicine. She has one daughter and one son.
From the age of 14, she felt drawn to drinking the medicine, though she did not yet have the courage to begin. At that time, she did not know her father was a curandero, as he kept his practice private and dieted in secret. When she was 18, she was deeply surprised to learn that he had been invited to Iquitos to work as a healer, and from that moment she began drinking and learning with him.
Through her father, she gained a strong understanding of the medicine, plant preparation, and how to cook meals that support healers in their work. Today, she serves as the cook for the healers and takes great joy in her role at the Temple, preparing food that helps sustain their practice. She loves kitchen work, has cooked in many different settings, and is passionate about nourishing good people doing good work.
