Tulku Migmar Tsering is a master in the Chokling New Treasures lineage of the Nyingma school of Tibetan Buddhism. Born in Nubri, Nepal in 1975, he was identified at an early age as a reincarnate lama and entered spiritual training while still young.
He began his formal studies in 1983 at Ka-Nying Shedrub Ling Monastery in Kathmandu. Over the years, Tulku Migmar developed into a highly accomplished practitioner, becoming skilled in the complex Vajrayana rituals and sacred arts that are central to the Chokling New Treasures tradition. He completed a three-year retreat under the close guidance of his root guru, the renowned Dzogchen master Kyabje Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche. He also received extensive teachings and empowerments from Kyabje Tsikey Chokling Rinpoche, Kyabje Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche, and Kyabgön Phakchok Rinpoche. Later, he spent six years studying at the Ka-Nying Shedrub Ling Shedra, the monastic college, where he excelled in the deeper study of Buddhist philosophy and the monastery’s advanced curriculum.
Tulku Migmar has known Kyabgön Phakchok Rinpoche since childhood, and they share a close dharma connection. He continues to refine his English so he can present the dharma in a way that is clear, accessible, and meaningful for his students. For the past five years, he has been based in Singapore, serving in a wide range of roles, including lama, spiritual advisor, ritual specialist, counselor, organizer, cook, and center manager. He has also traveled extensively throughout Asia and North America, teaching and inspiring students at many centers. A thoughtful observer, he is quick to understand the challenges faced by people from different cultures and backgrounds. In recognition of his qualities and his sincere wish to support others, Phakchok Rinpoche appointed him senior lama and supporting teacher for his sangha.
