Seth Auster-Rosen is a PhD candidate in the Philosophy of Religions at the University of Chicago and has been studying with Samye NY for the past ten years. His academic research focuses on the study and translation of two Madhyamaka Buddhist philosophical texts by the 8th Karmapa, Mikyö Dorje, with particular attention to questions of reality, what can be known, and the relationship between Madhyamaka and Mahamudra.
In addition to his Buddhist scholarship, Seth’s interests in ecology and the philosophy of technology bring a contemporary and reflective dimension to his work. He also serves as Academic Coordinator for the Samye Institute Summer Immersion program, helping to foster an atmosphere of learning, contemplation, and meaningful engagement with the tradition.
