Rebecca Nunta Ruiz

Rebecca Nunta Ruiz

Description

Rebecca’s Shipibo name is “Ranin Besho,” which translates as “Woman of healing.” She was born in the community of Nuevo Jerusalem de Shesheya and is a mother of four and grandmother of three. Two of her children are currently working with dieta and learning the art of healing with ayahuasca.

She comes from a family of medicine, with a grandmother who was a renowned healer. From the age of 8, Rebecca watched many sick people come to seek her grandmother’s help. She witnessed her treat everything from snake bites using tree resin to a wide range of conditions, including cancers, liver concerns, and many other illnesses. Rebecca would accompany her grandmother and help gather the plants needed for each treatment.

Those early years gave her deep knowledge of the forest pharmacy. Her grandmother always encouraged her to remember what she was learning so she could one day carry this wisdom forward for future generations. When her grandmother passed away, Rebecca was 18. Since then, she has continued to apply what she learned, supporting the well-being of her children and family members.

Over time, many people have come to her for help with a variety of concerns, from mild to serious health issues as well as relationship challenges. She loves working with the plants to support others and holds extensive knowledge of how to use the forest’s remarkable pharmacy.
