Born in 1981, Phakchok Rinpoche is a holder of the Profound Treasures of Chokgyur Lingpa within the Nyingma School of Early Translations, and one of the throne-holders of the Riwoche Taklung Kagyu lineage. His main root teachers were his grandfather, the late Kyabje Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche, and the late Kyabje Nyoshul Khen Rinpoche.
He completed a traditional education at Dzongsar Shedra in India and received the full Chokling New Treasures lineage from Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche and Kyabje Tsikey Chokling Rinpoche. From Nyoshul Khen Rinpoche, he also received the Great Perfection lineage.
Rinpoche teaches with clarity and immediacy, responding directly to the needs of those in attendance. While fully rooted in tradition and committed to preserving authentic methods of practice and transmission, he presents profound teachings in a way that is open and accessible to people from many different backgrounds.
As both a yogi practitioner and a family man with responsibilities in monastic institutions, Rinpoche understands the realities of different ways of life. His example speaks to dharma practice in the modern world: cultivating balance, grounding oneself in study and contemplation, and engaging in practices that genuinely reduce ego-clinging and negative emotions. He also teaches that altruistic action should meet the needs of one’s community and beyond, as a living expression of the compassion and wisdom developed through practice.
