Peter has spent more than a decade studying with Phakchok Rinpoche. His journey into Buddhism began in India in 2012, when he received teachings from His Holiness the Dalai Lama. That powerful experience left a lasting impression and inspired him to begin studying Tibetan language. His commitment to Tibetan Buddhism later led him to Yale Divinity School, where he deepened his study of religious texts and practice, and then to Rangjung Yeshe Institute, where he trained as a translator. In 2019, as a Tsadra Scholar, he completed his second master’s degree in Buddhist Studies.
During his studies, Peter joined Samye Translations and helped launch the Nekhor project. This work took him across the Indian subcontinent in search of the sacred sites connected with Guru Padmasambhava, the revered forefather of the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. His work on Nekhor later grew into a book series, Following In Your Footsteps: The Lotus Born Guru in Nepal, India, and Tibet.
Today, Peter serves as the director of Samye Hermitage New York, continuing his dedication to studying and sharing Tibetan Buddhist teachings.
