Peter has been called to two traditional lineages, Nahua and Huichol. In 2001, while on pilgrimage, he received guidance from the Cloud people to seek out Don Lucio Campos in the village of Nepaculato.
When Peter entered Don Lucio’s consultorio, Don Lucio raised his arms and said he had seen Peter in the clouds. He declared that Peter must be crowned and initiated immediately as a weather worker, a granicero.
As Peter deepened his relationship with the weather beings after his initiation, he continued traveling the Huichol path and completed the first of two initiations as a Marakame in 2008.
He then began the path toward initiation as a Quiatlzques, a traditional healer in the Nahua tradition, through years of pilgrimage to sacred sites. He continues to travel to Mexico four to five times each year for pilgrimage, ceremony, and learning from the Elders.
Peter lives in the Pacific Northwest, where he maintains a healing practice. Together with his wife, Sharon, an initiated Granicera in the Nahua tradition, he holds ceremonies that honor the cycles of life throughout the year, including the winter and summer solstices, welcoming and thanking the rains, vigils with Mt. Rainier, Raven feeding, and the Returning of the Salmon to their waters.
They are also initiated firekeepers in the Sacred Fire Community, holding monthly community, men’s, and women’s fires.
