Where Three Rivers Meet brings together hypnosis, shamanism, and sound healing in an exploration of the deep connections between traditional indigenous healing practices and contemporary Western hypnotherapy. Traditional healers across cultures have long worked with vibration—especially the audible power of sound and music—to support healing, vision, and creativity. In hypnotherapy, spoken language is used to offer suggestions that encourage change. This workshop considers two key questions: how modern hypnotherapists can better integrate music and sound healing practices, and how sound healing practitioners can bring the structure of hypnotic language into their understanding of the work.
Peter Blum is a senior hypnosis instructor for the National Guild of Hypnotists and has trained hundreds of people in the spiritual art of hypnosis. He has co-facilitated hypnosis and storytelling workshops with Dr. Lewis Mehl-Madrona, author of Coyote Medicine, and serves as adjunct faculty at the Coyote Institute. Peter has also served on the Board of Trustees of the Deep Listening Foundation and has taught at the Omega Institute, The Graduate Institute, and in Sounds for Healing concerts and workshops at The Abode of the Message, Menla Retreat Center, and many yoga studios across the United States.
A lifelong musician, Peter has studied music and sound healing with Dr. Karl Berger, Ustad Jamaluddin Bhartiya, Beautiful Painted Arrow (Joseph Rael), Pauline Oliveros, Fabian Mamman, John Beaulieu, and Don Conreaux. His six-CD Sounds for Healing series remains a favorite companion for meditation, guided imagery, yoga, massage, and related practices.
