Nico began working with Ayahuasca 16 years ago, apprenticing under Taita Florentino Agreda of Putumayo, Colombia. Those early years of regular ceremonies were a profound initiation, bringing clarity and forming a deep connection with this medicine.
Alongside Taita Florentino, Nico traveled across Colombia, supporting ceremonies, playing medicine music, and later learning from Taitas representing other traditions. Among them were Taita Isaias Munos Macanilla of the Kitchwas community from the Amazon, Taita Querubin Queta of the Cofan, and Taita Leonel Tascon of the Embera, among others.
Another meaningful chapter in Nico’s journey of exploration and healing was living with the Kogi people in Sebiaca, in Colombia’s Sierra Nevada. There, he taught and made music with the community’s children while learning about their cosmology, healing practices, and the simple beauty of a life lived in harmony with the elements.
After moving to the United States, Nico turned toward organic farming and sustainable building. He also serves as a fire-keeper for sweat lodges in the Lakota and Itzachilatlan traditions. He is currently in his third year of Vision Quest within the Itzachilatlan tradition and has been invited to begin Sun Dance with the One Heart One Mind Lakota community.
Nico sees these ancient medicines, traditions, and altars as reminders that the true medicine is life itself. His intention is to help create a safe, sacred, and beautiful space for people to sit with one of the greatest shamans of all: the great spirit of Ayahuasca.
