Born in the north of Ireland and raised in Liverpool, Nick Prance has made Scotland his home for more than 20 years. His professional background spans mental health services in the UK, where he worked first as a psychiatric nurse and later as a cognitive behavioural therapist. Alongside this path, he trained for ordained ministry in the Anglican Church and was eventually ordained.
He later stepped away from that career to spend three years on the Isle of Iona, working with the Iona Community to help organize and run programs for guests arriving on pilgrimage and retreat. During that period, he also became a member of the community.
After leaving Iona, Nick took a long-delayed gap year and traveled widely, including a deeply meaningful journey to Antarctica that shifted his perspective. Since then, he has left both the church and the Iona Community, retired from full-time work, and embraced a life of simply being—living more fully in the present moment.
Today, Nick leads pilgrimages and workshops, walks in the wild and beautiful landscapes of Scotland, watches far too much sport, plays guitar, and continues to learn from nature and his four life-affirming young grandchildren.
