Miranda is an AMGA Rock Guide whose climbing journey began in a Maryland gym as a teenager and quickly evolved into a lifelong passion. After earning a degree in International Studies from St. Mary’s College of Maryland in 2006, she headed west with minimal gear to live and work in Yosemite National Park. Since then, she has built an exceptional career in some of the world’s most celebrated climbing destinations, becoming highly skilled in traditional free climbing and technical big wall climbing.
Her achievements include more than 20 ascents of Yosemite’s El Capitan. In 2014, she climbed the Regular Northwest Face of Half Dome and The Nose of El Capitan in under 24 hours. Two years later, she made history as the first woman to rope solo The Nose in less than 24 hours. Miranda has also completed first ascents in Patagonia, California’s High Sierra, and the Coastal Range of British Columbia, and she continues to push the boundaries of traditional free climbing, onsighting routes up to 5.13 on gear.
She is a certified Rock Guide with the American Mountain Guides Association, a Wilderness First Responder, and fluent in both Spanish and English. Beyond climbing, Miranda enjoys writing, traveling, and sharing her love of climbing with others.
