Also known as First Nations Yogini, Michelle Garcia is the founder of Two Rivers Yoga, an international yoga school that brings traditional and modern yoga together through authenticity and inclusivity. Her path into yoga began unexpectedly after a barista shift in Grand Forks, BC, when she joined a pop-up class and was instantly captivated by that first savasana.
Since 2009, Michelle has devoted herself to the transformative power of yoga. She became a teacher in 2015 and has since completed more than 7,000 teaching hours, along with 1,500+ hours of advanced training in hatha, vinyasa, prenatal, yin, restorative, and yoga nidra. Her teaching style weaves together dynamic sequences, yogic philosophy, slow fascial release, and deep relaxation.
Known for creating sacred, nurturing spaces, Michelle invites students to explore their inner landscape and connect with self-discovery. Since 2021, she has led more than 35 teacher training programs across Canada, the U.S., Mexico, Peru, and Costa Rica. Her school honors yoga’s rich traditions while embracing modern methods, and her approach supports aspiring teachers in recognizing their own wisdom, strengthening their voice, and building confidence.
Whether she is guiding a personal practice or mentoring new teachers, Michelle’s mission is the same: to help others find peace, presence, and purpose through yoga. Outside the studio, she enjoys sunshine, jungle treks, margaritas, and making friends with every cat she meets.
