Raised in the Betania community, Maestro Soi comes from a lineage of Maestros. His name reflects the close relationship between his family and the plants, and is inspired by the feminine aspect of the sacred Tree, Noya Rao. “Soi” evokes a gentle, luminous light, a fitting expression of his energetic presence.
Now 39 years old, Maestro Soi began his healing path at just 14 through an intensive plant dieta with Noya Rao that lasted one and a half years. During that time, he lived in the jungle in complete isolation, guided and supported by his grandfather. Through these energetic transmissions, he received teachings from the elements and the natural world. By the age of 16, he was already participating in ceremonies and learning how to identify and work with people’s traumas. Throughout his youth and adult life, he continued to learn and practice alongside his grandfather and uncles.
Maestro Soi speaks openly about the many challenges that come with the shamanic healing path. To reach a deeper level of mastery, a person must pass through numerous tests that arise in every area of life, including family, friendships, and relationships. The path calls for endurance, and it asks for sacrifice, mental strength, integrity, and faith.
He finds deep purpose in supporting others as they transform psychologically, emotionally, spiritually, and physically. Maestro Soi understands that many people have lost their sense of direction, meaning, and purpose. Some have become disconnected from their cultural roots and from the path that is truly theirs. Others live in a numb state, unable to feel themselves or those around them. In that condition, the connection to nature weakens, harmony with the environment is lost, and the mind rarely rests. Without presence, the spirit can drift into a kind of waking dream.
Maestro Soi carries a profound understanding of the medicine and of the responsibility that comes with sharing it. He is aware of the confusion and misuse that can surround both the medicine and the practice, and this awareness has inspired him to bring his work beyond Peru and offer it at Soltara. He works closely with his cousin, Maestra Silvia, and together they form a powerful Sun and Moon pairing. Their shared team spirit is heard clearly in every icaro they sing together.
He welcomes people’s curiosity about Shipibo medicine and understands that many are seeking self-discovery and a higher wisdom: a deeper knowing of life and of themselves that is not easily found in modern life. His intention is to serve those who long for peace and inner harmony. Maestro Soi walks this path with deep respect for the plants and for humanity, and that integrity is present in his work both inside and outside ceremony. With his soft-spoken, tranquil presence, he brings trust and compassion to all that he does.
