Shipibo Curandera
Maestra Olinda Nete Ave
At 59, Maestra Olinda comes from Pahoyan, deep in the Amazon rainforest. Her healing path began in childhood, guided by her mother, the respected curandera of their community. Growing up, Olinda observed her mother’s close relationship with medicinal plants and the many ways they were used to support conditions ranging from snake bites to cancer.
At 16, she started apprenticing with her mother, learning how to lead Ayahuasca ceremonies and carry forward the ancestral healing methods passed down through her lineage. Her mother made sure she received the wisdom of their ancestors, preparing her to continue the sacred work of caring for family and community.
After her mother died when Olinda was 35, she stepped fully into the role of curandera for her community. She later deepened her practice through demanding Master Plant Dietas with powerful plants including Noya Rao, Chiric Sanango, Bobinsana, Piñon Negro, Ajo Sacha, Chullachaqui Caspi, and Remo Caspi. Guided only by the plants themselves, these diets became the foundation of her work.
What distinguishes Olinda’s practice is its depth and authenticity. Rather than learning from many shamans, she honors the palo maestros, the master plants, as her only teachers. This direct relationship with the plants brings a rare purity and strong effectiveness to her healing, felt deeply by those who sit with her.
Today, Maestra Olinda continues the legacy of her ancestors, offering transformative healing experiences and sharing the sacred knowledge of the Amazon with steady devotion. Her gentle yet powerful presence inspires awe and gratitude in all who have the privilege of working with her.
