Karen began practicing yoga in 2006, originally as a way to cross-train for her favorite sports. Her practice became far more meaningful after a car accident in 2015 left her with a debilitating back injury, and she has continued to rely on yoga while waiting for surgery for that same injury. In many ways, her doctors have confirmed what she already knows from experience: without yoga, her body would be in much rougher shape. It has helped her stay mobile, support her quality of life, and carry her through difficult times.
Because she understands injury firsthand, Karen is especially passionate about helping students adapt their practice to suit their own bodies. In her classes, she creates a safe, supportive environment where people can explore movement with confidence and care. Her teaching approach is grounded in compassion, with an emphasis on both physical and mental healing.
When she’s not in the studio, Karen enjoys reading, watching hockey, and spending time on her many other hobbies and jobs.
