John Peacock brings together nearly fifty years of Buddhist practice with a long and distinguished academic background. His training began in India within the Tibetan Gelugpa tradition, and he later deepened his understanding of the path through study of Theravada Buddhism in Sri Lanka.
Following a doctorate in philosophy, John taught Buddhist and Western philosophy, as well as Buddhist Studies, at the University of Bristol. He later served as Associate Director of the Oxford Mindfulness Centre, co-directed the Master of Studies programme in Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy at Oxford University, and taught Buddhist psychology on the same course.
Now retired from academia, John continues to share his experience through meditation teaching, a practice he has offered for more than thirty-five years. His sessions reflect both scholarly depth and lived experience, offering a grounded and thoughtful approach for those interested in mindfulness and Buddhist practice.
